It’s not often that you get the chance to sit down with an Oscar-winning actress so, as you can imagine, I was only too delighted to be told I’d be getting the opportunity to interview Cate Blanchett.
The Australian actress is a household name here in Ireland, where she’s probably best known as Galadriel from Lord of The Rings, or for playing Irish journalist Veronica Guerin in the biopic of the same name.
I sat down with Cate in London town to talk all about her latest film, Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, which sees her taking on the role of a woman with a whole lot of designer baggage.
Having been thoroughly enchanted by her performance in the movie, I can honestly say I was more than happy to find out how she felt about joining the ranks of great female actresses like Dianne Wiest, Mia Farrow and Diane Keaton.
Of course, I couldn’t help but ask about her next iconic role either. Blanchett’s taking on the role of that infamous stepmother in Kenneth Brannagh’s live action Cinderella reboot, and she certainly had a few interesting things to say about the story.
