If there’s one thing I love seeing in the lead up to the festive season it’s the John Lewis Christmas ad, so when the bear and the hare made their debut today you could say I was rather excited.
It didn’t take long for the utterly adorable Farthing Wood / Watership Down-esque offering to bring an oul tear to my eye, not least because the tale was set to Lily Allen’s own take on Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know. I may not have mentioned it before, but that’s probably one of my favourite songs of all time.
Meanwhile, UK supermarket Morrissons released a far less exciting ad featuring Ant and Dec yesterday too. There’s something not quite right about a Christmas ad ending in suggested… well, you’ll see.
And while we’re on the subject, can we talk about THAT Marks & Spencer ad? The fairy tale fantasy is a fantastic concept, but I don’t see why I had to watch Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in her Arabian nightie.
In conclusion, John Lewis takes the crown once again.
