Hundreds of screaming fans flocked to Grafton Street this evening to watch Michael Bublé switch on the shopping street’s festive lights and unveil the department store’s new Christmas windows.
Bublé told fans that he was delighted to be back in Ireland and was disappointed that he couldn’t stay longer for “fish and chips” and a spot of shopping.
RTÉ’s Claire Byrne hosted the event, replacing her colleague Ryan Tubridy at the last minute. She told the crowd that the heavy traffic generated by the event had prevented Mr Tubridy from reaching the store in time for the celebrations.
Members of the Irish National Youth Ballet performed a piece from The Nutcracker before Mr Bublé took to the stage to flick the switch.
The Brown Thomas Christmas windows were also revealed to the crowd. Scenes from The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella feature in the festive display.
Bublé will appear on tonight’s Late Late Show.
Were you in town tonight?
